Nashtoon port in Al Mahrah.. Saudi hegemony for goals no longer secret

Saudi forces present in Al Mahrah province still extend their authority over one of the main port in the province through controlling commercial traffic and not allowing any Yemeni military troops to perform their tasks.

 

The Nashtoon strategic port are now under complete control of Saudi forces Commander who is based in Al Ghaidah airport.

 

The coastguard Commander in Al Mahrah Brig Mohammed Taresh confirmed that all movement and orders are following the orders of Saudi forces Commander present in the province, as the Yemeni coastguard couldn't exercise of their duties  assigned to them.

 

Tarsh indicated in a statement to yemenagency that Yemeni coastguard does not have a headquarter up to now, despite many promises by Al Mahrah local authority, hence he is practicing his duties from home.

Taresh revealed that the different Yemeni military formations present within the theatre of operations of the port don't have the freedom of decision, as I was prevented earlier from meeting with US Ambassdor during his visit to the province for unknown reasons, in spite of my name was among the invite list.

 

Taresh added that the forces in charge of securing the port now is a battalion of the 137 brigade, but following the instructions of Saudi forces. Taresh called on the President of the Republic Abdarrubah Mansur and the Gov't to put an end to the Saudi dominance, enabling Yemeni coastguard to practice its duties.

 

Nashtoon port that is far from the Al Ghaydah city, the province center, 45 km, is under Saudi Forces control, whom local citizens accuse of making a wide change in the working mechanism of the port. The citizens indicate that the Saudi presence in their port impose its own strategy on the port and every now and then closing it and detaining of shipments in addition to controlling the port revenue that don't go to the local authority budget.

 

Nashtoon port is considered a strategic objective of Saudi Arabia since decades as it associated with a Saudi project aiming to transporting of oil overland by pipeline from various Saudi Oil Fields without the need to crossings of the Strait of Hormuz which is Iranian-control.
