UAE had something to do with it... environmental pollution threatens the lives of Haban district people in Shabwah province - yemen

Videos and pictures show oil spill from one of an old & rusty oil pipeline because of acts of sabotage that UAE standing behind it.

As videos and pictures prove, the leaking led to serious environmental pollution threatening the lives of thousands of the people in Ghareer of Haban district - Shabwah province southeast of Yemen.

 

 

The pipeline has become a problem besetting the population of Ghareer area being exploded many times causing massive oil spill. 

 

 

The pipeline that running from Al Oqlah Oil Field to An Noshiamah port of Rudum district off Arabic Sea Coast, going through Al Ghareer area where the serious environmental pollution exists. The population said to yemenagency that the leaky oil mixed with wells water. 

 

 

 According to the population, the leaking led to massive soil pollution, destroying their crops and led to their animals death, there is a fear of spillover effect into the people، nonetheless no sign of intervention of the authority to stop the leaking and end the people fear. 

 

 

The pipeline which is from 1980s, was vulnerable to vandalism several times, being partially exploded, in addition to being old and rusty. The information indicates that UAE stood behind the last sabotage acts through its mercenaries and outlaw gangs to deliberately exposing the local people at risk, distracting local authority and to engendering a feeling of outrage within the citizens. 

 

 

About that the deputy of Oil and Minerals Department Director, in Shabwah Engineer Ali Khairan said that in spite of the pipeline is still leaking, there were several attempts to bombing and damaging it. 

 

From one hand, Engineer Khairan affirms that this pipeline is rickety due to lacking of regular maintenance by Oil Investment Company, which is in charge of, since the the date of its establishment in 1986.

 

He added that the continued negligence of the pipeline has led to the emergence of projections and this in turn led to oil spill, the oil then mixed with drinking water, destroyed the crops and polluted the whole wells of drinking water of the area.

From other hand, as one inhabitants of the area, Dr, Ammar Haptoor, Oil Expert, calls on the local authority and those responsible to act immediately to save the citizens from nearly environmental disaster.

 

Haptoor, who is the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Oil and Minerals, also appealed to find rapid solutions to end this growing problem day after day. 

 

 

It's worth noting that the local authority took an urgent actions but it didn't suffice, because of the damage is substantial, digging other drinking water wells or building a barrier between the pipeline and the Wadi not enough.

 

The repeated attacks on the pipeline in Ghareer area and along stretch leading the local authority to charge of UAE and its mercenaries who so-called elite troops whom UAE formed to be parallel forces to the military and security forces in the province years ago.

 

The local authority said that this subversive gangs planted explosive devices on the pipeline's wall aiming to obstruct of transporting the rude oil process through it. 

 

The security services arrested many of those accused persons who admitted receiving money from UAE leaders for that, in addition to being engaged in so-called elite troops.
