UAE continues to strengthen its influence in Yemeni Socotra Island through reinforcing UAE-backed secessionist group, delivering new batches of weapons and armored vehicles to them.
Internal sources in Socotra said to "yemenagency" that Emirates ship arrived at archipelago port on last Monday loaded with armored vehicles and weapons after three weeks of discharging of another Emirates ship loaded with armored vehicles at the province port controlled by Emirates-backed STC
The sources spoke to yemenagency on condition of anonymity, that the ship loaded with weapons and ammunition docked at the island port under the name Khalifa Bin Zayed Foundation for humanitarian action, claiming that the ship was loaded with humanitarian aids, drugs and food.
The sources also confirmed that UAE armored vehicles and weapons were delivered to Emirates-backed STC forces in the island.
It's worth noting that Socotra Governor Ramzi Mahrus announced in last February that an Emirates ship unloaded military armored cars at the province port, taking that as a challenge of legitimate Yemeni Gov't and island local authority and a clear attempt to hamper the implementation of Riyadh agreement.
Mahrus said at the time that UAE keeps on backing the armed groups and Transitional militia promoting the chaos that Socotra is currently experiencing, affirming that the arrival of Emirates weapons was clear evidence that the destabilization, causing mayhem activities and confiscation of National sovereignty over the island is with external support.
At the same time, Yemeni officials accused UAE of seeking to split the country and take control over the southern part to capture control over its wealth and bio-ports specially Aden and Socotra strategic ports, meanwhile Abu Dhabi denied the charges.
