During the last few days, the size of the Alliance between UAE-backed STC and Al Qa'eda organization in Yemeni southern provinces was revealed.

That was revealed through the recent movements of STC & Al Qa'eda combatants that seek to target the personnel of national army and security, besides targeting Saudi-led Coalition efforts aimed at Countering-Terrorism.

"yemenagency" was informed by various sources that the coordination between STC and Al Qa'eda is taking place under sponsorship of UAE, the sources also reported that Abu Dhabi is recruiting of persons to work under the leadership of Al Qa'eda leader Nasser Ash Shaiba "Abu Gohaiman" to target the national army in Abyan province along with STC militia.

The sources indicated that the beginning of the relationship and the coordination between some leaders of STC and Al Qa'eda was in 2012 in the operation which resulted in abducting the Deputy of Saudi Consul in Aden Abdullah Al Khalidi financed and sponsored by Iran at that time.

According to the sources, the cell was consisted of 5 members of Southern movement, STC now, trained intensively in southern Lebanon under the supervision of Iranian intelligence were the ones charged for kidnapping Al Khalidi, before handing him over to Al Qa'eda organization in a deal between the two parties coordinated by so-called Nader Maqdisho, STC leader's right-hand man in Lahj Saleh As Said.

Riyadh announced in 2015, after three years of abducting him, the release of Al Khalidi from the grip of Al Qa'eda in an intelligence operation, this coincided with releasing Administrative attaché in Iranian Embassy to Sana'a who was kidnapped from front of his house in Sana'a later, as Saudi reaction to Iran standing behind kidnapping Deputy of Saudi Consul in Aden and handed him over to Al Qa'eda.

Security source said that the cell responsible for abducting Al Khalidi received support from a Yemeni intelligence agent worked for Iran so-called Saleh Ali Bin Ash Shiekh Abu Bakr, known as Abu Ali Al Hadhrami who was working as a businessman in Aden. Later, Aidroos appointed him as his consultant when he served as Aden Governor in 2016.

It's worth noting that Nader Maqdisho was released in a prisoner exchange between Houthis and STC in 2018. He was serving his prison term for kidnapping Deputy of Saudi Consul after arresting him between 2013 and 2014, then prosecuting him in Sana'a in the beginning of 2015.
